A small museum with a big story

Crete, collected with curiosity and care.

Founded by naturalist George Afordakos, Rodanthi Museum brings together the extraordinary botanical and geological heritage of Crete. Visitors can encounter endemic plants, medicinal and edible species, fossils, natural pigments and stories connecting the landscape to Cretan life.

The experience is personal and hands-on — a conversation with nature, memory and place.

Meet the founder

A lifetime of walking, observing and collecting.

George Afordakos has spent years exploring Crete’s mountains and landscapes. A two-time Greek marathon champion and long-time national-team runner, he created Rodanthi from decades of observation, collecting and personal knowledge of the Cretan landscape.
